Validity of Expired SASSA Gold Cards for 2024 Social Grants Payments

The validity of Expired SASSA Gold Cards is a big question of confusion among beneficiaries of SRD R350 and other Social Relief of distress receivers while entering 2024. Surprisingly, Postbanks announced that expired SASSA Gold cards will remain valid throughout 2024. One can still withdraw SASSA R350 payments through Capitec, SASSA ATM, Postbank, and Paypoints if his card expires.

Dr Bongani Diako, Head of communications and Postbank spokesperson, officially announced it: “There is no need to switch your Postbank accounts; expired SASSA Gold Cards will continue to work for 2024.”

Social Development Departments and Gauteng Post Office have confirmed the news by assuring the working of expired SASSA Gold Cards.

Postbank commits to processing timely transactions and monthly payments of all types of SASSA Grants. It includes all SASSA Gold card users, including Care dependency, old age pensioners, war veterans, foster children, and Social Relief of Distress Grants. 

SASSA beneficiaries also have access to transfer money from SASSA ATM to Capitec easily. Beneficiaries would follow the old method of withdrawing their SRD R350 relief payments through SASSA Gold Cards at various retailers’ points. Few of authorized retailers are

Postbank’s spokesperson, Dr. Bongani Diako, also announced some security relief for SASSA ATM Cardholders. SASSA Grant payments from January to March 2024 are scheduled with a maintenance plan on a monthly basis to validate the case provision services to its beneficiaries and ensure that all the SASSA receivers are receiving SASSA deposits on accurate payment dates according to their categories. It activated the local and regional service providers of most branches of Post offices in Gauteng, Kimberley, Cape town, Mmabatho, Pretoria, and other free states.

 It would improve customer support and align an effective strategy to provide maximum assistance to SASSA SRD R350 beneficiaries all around South Africa with the help of the Department of Home Affairs and the Department of Social Development.

If you encounter any issues during February payment dates with lost or stolen SASSA Gold Cards, you can visit any Post Office branch nationwide to lodge an application for replacement of the SASSA Gold card or SASSA ATM Card.
