SASSA Facial Recognition Feature for Biometric Identity Verification Released
News has just been released that the South African National Agency has launched SASSA Facial Recognition feature for biometric Identity Verification of beneficiaries. Since SASSA covers about 18 million SRD beneficiaries, official stats reveal that only about half of them are deserving. Thus, Minister of Social Development Lindiwe Zulu recently gazetted more strict laws on identity verification through biometric facial recognition as a security key of SASSA login details.
SASSA Facial Recognition Feature
According to the srd.sassa.gov.za news release,” Clients will now be required to perform identification verification through SASSA facial recognition feature.”
SASSA Facial recognition software would affirm that no “referred” status would be entertained and immediately indicate fraudulent activity on SASSA’s personal account. If anyone changes your SASSA personal details like phone number or bank details or adds the wrong South African identity verification number, it will be reported automatically to the SASSA verification and validation database in the Security department of SASSA.
How to open SASSA Facial Recognition Feature?
From now on, while logging into srd.sassa.gov.za, you will receive 2 SMS on your SASSA registered mobile number. One will have a SASSA OTP code, and the other SMS will have a secured link.
- Click on the secured link, and you will reach SASSA Facial recognition software for biometric verification
- Clean your phone camera and look straight into the camera
- Stand in a well-lit area to avoid a decline in verification
- Make sure your cellular data is accessible with good signals so that you can easily send your face image to verify biometric identification.
Beneficiary Must Remember
To apply for SASSA application, you must pass through SASSA Means Test. This is the process of verification and validation of SASSA beneficiary who is applying for SASSA Status Check online to prove his identity. Your personal details would be checked and verified with your data in Department of Home Affairs (DHA) and confirmation would be provided if you pass all the security checks of verification at SASSA.
